From 10.09. -12.09.2021 the second Youth Participation Conference between the Youth Council Liechtenstein and the Initiative Youth Parliament took place. From Friday to Sunday, 24 young people exchanged ideas about politics and youth participation in Cologne. It started on Friday with input from the Federal Agency for Civic Education, which presented its work and in particular its programs for reaching first-time voters. Saturday, Paul von Preußen of Digital8 provided information on intergenerational differences and digitization. The subsequent group used the insights to develop ways to increase participation and better reach young people. This was followed by two rounds of talks with NRW state parliament members Guido Deus and Marcus Optendrenk on the topics of youth participation, youth parliaments and digitization.
The leisure program was not neglected either: in addition to a guided tour of Cologne, a visit to the chocolate museum and restaurant visits, the free evenings were also used for activities such as karaoke.
Overall, the Youth Participation Conference provided participants with a lively exchange and many new insights, which can now be continued at the next event in Liechtenstein.
