When I was asked if I would also like to join the media team of the Youth Parliament initiative, I was immediately enthusiastic and took part. It has always been important to me that young people also have the opportunity to understand political processes by trying them out for themselves. That's why, during my school years, I also took part in formats like Jugend debattiert (Youth Debate), because in my hometown of Northeim in Lower Saxony, that was one of the few opportunities to at least get to grips with political processes in a theoretical form. I think it's a great opportunity to familiarize young people with complex political processes and to introduce them to them in general. My podcast Gegenwartsgeplapper has a similar goal. In this interview format, I mainly babble with politicians in order to break down the inhibition threshold of aloofness and to show that there are real people and characters behind political actors as well, but that they ultimately make political decisions. I'm now looking forward to contributing this expertise to the media team of the Youth Parliament Initiative to do my bit to raise awareness of representative democracy.
