Head of educational work
"No democracy works without everyone having their say. That is why it is all the more important to give young people a voice and to shape the future together with them."
Ann-Katrin grew up in a rural region in the Soest district. In her home parish, she worked voluntarily in religious education for many years. After graduating from the University of Applied Sciences in the field of health and social services, she moved to Hamm in Westphalia in 2015. Here she completed her training as a state-recognised educator at a technical school for social affairs, in the field of social pedagogy. During her school days she was active in the student council. It has always been a matter close to her heart to help young people be heard and to give them a voice. Her interest in human behaviour, different cultures as well as demands on society moved her to study. In addition, she has been studying psychology at a distance learning university since April 2020. As a trained educator, she has the necessary communication skills and knows how important participation is. For them, democratic education must be promoted and strengthened from an early age so that participation can succeed and thus enable good social coexistence. Through experience in child and youth work, she is very familiar with pedagogical action concepts. She has been involved in the Hamm SPD and the Jusos Hamm since the beginning of 2019. She is a member of the committee for family, child and youth welfare of the city of Hamm and is particularly committed to the areas of education and social affairs. It is important to Ann-Katrin that people are given the opportunity to participate in political discourse early on in life. She works to ensure that young people are actively involved in political decisions and that they make themselves heard in society. As the head of educational work, she is always available for all questions and suggestions relating to education and pedagogy.
